Vegan Fashion

Had an interesting exchange with Cindy Mitchell one of the developers of VeganFashionblog.com. I must admit before being contacted by a member of PersonalCloset.com about adding a category for vegan clothing items, I didn't know you could purchase such items. I know, I should have known.

I educated myself about Vegan clothing via VeganFashionblog.com - the following is a little background on how the blog got off the ground - enjoy

Vegan Fashion Blog was originally started, when after being vegan for 5 months, I wanted to buy a new pair of athletic shoes. It was at this point that panic set in, because I quickly came to the realization that most shoes have at least some leather in them.

The more I thought about this, the more I realized many clothes and beauty products have animal products in them. As a new vegan, I did a lot of reading on vegan blogs and forums and found that more and more products and disguised ingredients had animal products.

So I went on the search for everything vegan, from vegan food alternatives to vegan beauty and fashion. What I found, was that hunting down fashionable vegan clothing was nearly a full time task. I started this blog so that as I found wonderful vegan fashion items, I could share them with other vegans, or those that are curious about cruelty-free fashion.

Everytime I find something that is beautiful and fashionable, I become very excited and can't wait to share, especially shoes, because I am a shoe fanatic. So I hope you enjoy my blog and find it as useful as I do. ERM

What's it worth?

The second most asked question - What's it worth?
PersonalCloset.com is asked this question everyday from members who list their things on the site.

My responds is always, ask yourself what would you pay for it "now", not what you paid for it new...

You should keep in mind that most people who shop PersonalCloset.com are looking for that bargain item to add to their own "Personal Collect".

Sure you will run into that person who will pay whatever for an item they've looked all over for. Now that they're tired of looking - you have it, they want it, done deal.

One more thing, when photographing your items, presentation is very important. Know one wants to buy something that looks like you slept in it - set the stage...

What's in your closet?

The Word Is Getting Out

A special thanks to all the Bloggers who gave us a major shout out this pass week...

Getting contacted by a fellow bloggers is alway a special treat. Without introducing themself as bloggers, the overall structure of their questions says it all - "I'm a blogger and I have a few questions for you about this PersonalCloset.com site?" I love it...

One of their first questions is always, how are you guys able to do all of this for free? My responds is always same, advertising.

Basic ground rules:
Rule number one - Everyone loves FREE.
Rule number two - Keep the process simple.
Rule number three - Review rule one and two.

Advertisers are watching PersonalCloset.com very closely. Think about it, when a member of PersonalCloset.com sells something on the site, the question becomes, what will they do with the extra cash? It's a pretty good bet some members will purchase more clothing and clothing related items. Advertiser see this as an opportunity to make a sell... Very simple

Thanks again for assisting us at getting the word out on PersonalCloset.com "What's in your closet?"

The extra things

I wanted to thank the member of PersonalCloset.com who contacted me last night about getting started on PersonalCloset.com.

I find it interesting how shy people are when they make contact with us. You can hear them breathing heavily as they struggle to find the words to explain themselves.

I'm very careful not to interrupt during this period, I just listen. I learned years ago, listening is an art.

Yes It's Free

PersonalCloset.com receives more than a few emails everyday asking pretty much the same thing. Here we go with the top five most requested questions...

  • Why is this service free? - From the start my wife made it very clear. The membership shouldn't be charged a fee for selling their own things. We didn't want to be viewed as another auction type website.
  • Who pays for shipping? - People (buyers) who shop online are accustom to paying shipping in most cases. When you consider PersonalCloset.com features clothing related items only, shipping cost are very affordable.
  • How can I add my nonprofit group to the site? - Any 501 (c) nonprofit organization should contact PersonalCloset.com and provide information about their organization to assist in setting up their account - The process of setting up an account takes just a few days.
  • Why do you allow only clothing and clothing related items on the site? - As many of you know, my wife came up with the concept of PersonalCloset.com as a way to free up some closet space. When you consider the average US family has more than 200 clothing and clothing related items in their "Personal Closet" they don't wear anymore, the choice was clear, just offer clothing and clothing related items in a auction free environment - members keep their profits.
  • How can I get my husband to listen to my ideas? - ??? (smile)
All of these questions are answered on the site by the way.

My son an I made the wife breakfast in bed an later today we're going for a drive, with gas prices at over $3.00 per gal, it want be a long drive.

I'm making dinner tonight, well that's what I'm calling it, actually one of my best friends is a cook and he is sending over some roasted chickens with all trimmings. In return I'm giving up four tickets to the cards (ML-Baseball) game next week - fair and square.

Next week I'll get this blog back on track - PersonalCloset.com

I told my wife

I mentioned my blog to my wife this morning. To my surprise she was ok with the idea of me letting the world take a look into her "Personal Closet".

She was quick to point out that every woman who reads the blog and visits PersonalCloset.com will feel right at home - so far she is right.

Interesting fact to consider:

The average American family has over 200 clothing and clothing related items in their "Personal Closet" they don't wear anymore - that's a fact. And if you have teenagers (smile) that number is much much more...

Now imagine if you sold those items on PersonalCloset.com for $5.00 each (on average), can you say "Weekend get away?" - just a thought...

Shopping & enjoying cake

Hello, I'm Eric R. McNack developer of PersonalCloset.com a website my wife came up with. In this blog I'll be poking fun at her and the things in her "Personal Closet - all for fun.

My wife enjoys shopping like a fat kid enjoys cake, it's all good really. She loves her shoes and handbags & jeans by the boat load, that’s her thing.

I don't have a problem with that besides there are things I enjoy, NBA season tickets - MLBaseball season tickets, I could go on but in the interest of time - you know the deal?

What I don't understand is why she leaves price tags on things she purchases? In her "Personal Closet" right this very moment are at least 3 to 4 dozen things from suits jeans handbags and let’s not overlook those sunglasses with prices tag and the sales receipt affixed to them - what's up with that?

Surely my wife isn't the only person suffering this affliction, right? - Let me hear from everyone who is dealing with this... Let's have some fun with this... PersonalCloset.com
